1982 Masters (snooker)

The 1982 Benson and Hedges Masters took place between January 26 and January 31, 1982 at the Wembley Conference Centre. Like 1981 12 players were invited with Steve Davis prevailing in the final, beating Terry Griffiths who'd made his third Masters final in a row, 9-5 to go with the World, UK and the English professional championship titles he had won in the past year and revenge from the Lada Classic final earlier on in the month which Davis lost 8-9. Jimmy White made his debut which was the first of 26 consecutive appearances at the Masters and Tony Meo who made a new tournament record break of 136 in his 5-0 quarter-final defeat of Cliff Thorburn, spiritedly pulled up from 0-5 to 4-5 before losing his semi-final to Davis 4-6.
